Gilen whispered, “Non.”

“Tres bien. Or you and I and the whole world might be lost.” Jacques poked the boy’s round cheek. “I’ve not met anyone striped before.”

A clawed hand delivered a return poke. “Rude.”

“I could call you Stripe.” Jacques scanned the room. “I’m to receive a nickname myself. And another glass of wine.”

Gilen petted his cheek, as if enchanted by the rasp of stubble.

At his questioning glance, Hisoka supplied, “Facial hair. A quirk of humanity.”

“Tell that to your eyebrows.”

Hisoka’s lifted, and his smile lost its air of diplomacy.

And it was tres bien.

Hi, Forthright!

I’ve just finished your latest instalment of the Amaranthine series; ‘Dragged through the Hedgerows’.. And I just wanted to tell you how much I loved it! You are quickly becoming one of my favourites writers.

I love to write myself and was wondering if you could give me any advice? Any books or resources that have inspired and helped you along your writing journey?

Also, books do you like to read when you’re not delving into the Amaranthine world?

Advice isn’t hard to come by. Everyone seems to have their own spin on the writing process. I’m not your best bet if you’re looking for writing resources. I was more of a learn-by-doing kind of author. Fandom trained.

What do I read when I’m not writing? Oh, this and that. My tastes are wide and varied. Manga for sure. Lots else. Plenty more. And then some. Yep.
