LMM 47: True Blue

True Blue

Hands busy, the grip of Jacques’ fears loosened enough for him to twist and tug at them, seeking their root. Argent had never dismissed his fear. Never denied its rightness. Only pushed him to refine it. To define the danger.

Lapis did not fit that definition.

Jacques could see him clearly in his mind, sipping tea, turning pages. Mannerly and manicured. Genteel and generous. “Pretty is as pretty does.”

“Wise as serpents, harmless as doves.” Argent straightened to survey their progress, idly wiping his hands on his thighs. “If you like, I understand that Lapis is equally susceptible to pedicures.”
