LMM 33: Painfully Honest

Claimer: I do hereby claim all rights and responsibility for the characters in this series of vignettes because the Amaranthine Saga is mine. (Which means I should probably behave myself since anything I say or do could be taken as canon.)  Indulge the lot of us, especially for the susceptible one.

“Oh, very well.” Lapis set aside his tea. “Dragons have a way with words. We can be very persuasive.”

Argent bluntly said, “He lies beautifully.”

“I could,” countered the dragon lord. “I generally refrain.”

Tsk. You overwhelmed Smythe with one word.”

Lapis hummed. “Is he as susceptible to your lies?”

“His lordship would never lie to me!” Jacques exclaimed. Then quailed before their pitying looks.

“Words are only one form of deception,” said the dragon.

“I trust him.” Jacques’ chin lifted. “I love him.”

Lapis’ tone gentled. “I didn’t ask for your secrets, dear boy.”

“It’s no secret,” he muttered.
