Two brothers retreated to the porch overlooking the shrine’s inner courtyard. Continue reading

Dithering

Five chapters left. And I know what needs to happen in each. But the simultaneous culmination and climax of a tale always turns me into a dithering emotional wreck. Saying goodbye to a story is Hard, and not only because so many of you are trusting me to End Well. I’m gonna miss Lord Charming, too! ::wibble::

SUBJECT: I was wondering…

I’m regularly asked about my writing process. In a recent comment, Anil asked a series of questions. Here are my responses:

Anil: I was wondering if you pre-write your material in advance, or schedule your writing sessions?

Forthy: This sounds wishy-washy, but it really depends. Unless an author lands a serial gig, our original stories don’t see the light of day until we have a completed manuscript. So I do a whole lot of pre-writing. Fandom is a refreshing exception. I usually Continue reading

Lulling

In answer to recent inquiries…

Yes, Clumsy is on a short break. The lapse in updates was an unintentional consequence of holiday busyness (which was why I never made any official announcement). Lord Charming is experiencing a similar lull while I’m working out my writing schedule for 2017. These two stories will resume next week.

As always, thank you for your patience! ::twinkle::

Mail Order Manga: Jun Mochizuki

Last night, I finished the 24th (“final”) volume of Pandora Hearts, so I’m a little on the emotionally wrung out side. Amazing story. Intriguing twists. Endearing characters. I’m quite attached … so I was happy to discover that there’s a final-final volume I need to nab (Vol. 24+1) and what looks like a prequel (Pandora Hearts: Caucus Race) and three official guides that promise more art and side stories. I really must complete my collection.

On a related note, I have the first volume in Jun Mochizuki’s next series on pre-order. Volume 1 of A Case Study of Vanitas is due to release in English on December 5, 2016. I’m in!

Pie Baking & Drabble Making

A Lord Charming reviewer nudged me this morning, hoping for an update to Clumsy. I promise, the story’s open on my desktop. I’ll try to sneak in a little writing time between the rice pudding and the pumpkin pies. (Home smells amazing the day before Thanksgiving!)

Wishing you spice and sweetness and silver linings. Be grateful… and show it in big and little ways! ::twinkle::
