Over Cornflakes
Over cornflakes, Coop casually remarked, “It’s a market day. Can I go?”
“We’ll all go,” said Dad.
Daroo cautioned, “There’s thunder in the distance.”
“We’ll pack the umbrellas.”
Coop shoveled the last of his cereal. “I’ll get them! I’m ready!”
“Hold your horses. I need to fix Rose’s hair.”
Daroo said, “Coop and I will do the breakfast dishes.”
“Oh. Yeah. Sure.” They pitched in pretty often, but something told Coop that he’d been made.
Sure enough, as soon as Dad and Rose went upstairs, Daroo hooked a claw under one of the many necklaces Coop wore. “Interesting fashion statement.”
