Singlehanded
The Evernholds’ arrival had benefited the entire enclave. Their vintage railroad was mostly a novelty, but it had brought Fairlee Longbrawn to Japan. He was an old friend from their theater days, and after singlehandedly laying tracks, the bovine clansman had asked to stay.
Jacques still hadn’t decided if Fairlee was a preservationist or a hobbyist or a hedonist. But Stately House now boasted a dairy barn, a creamery, and a small herd of cows—all Kith, each with different ancestry.
“Where’s Lilya?”
“She ran ahead. I came back for you.” Kyrie offered him a hand. “Be mine for today?”
