“Facial.” Jacques waved at himself. “I skimped while we were away. I was about to peel. Coming?”
Kyrie asked, “May I help?”
“By all means.” And he directed the boy through the final four stages. “It’s never too early to take care of one’s skin. Or scales.”
“So smooth!” He patted Jacques’ cleanshaven cheek.
“Mm-hmm. So is that why you dropped by? To trade facials?”
Kyrie gasped, then went all tongue-tied.
“Were you meant to be delivering a message or something?” Jacques guessed.
“No, but… I think you are wanted.”
“By whom?”
The boy sheepishly pointed toward Jacques’ balcony. “Sonnet.”
