Release Day

Scribbled in Margins. Today’s the day! The 9th Songs of the Amaranthine tale has released. Here’s hoping you enjoy the new addition to the collection. And since such tales are short & sweet, I’ll make this post do double duty as the Squee Post for Scribbled in Margins.

They were sent into solitude, yet neither of them was ever truly alone.
Wrongfully accused of insulting a man of higher rank, a bright young man is banished to a remote post where he must stand watch over a signal fire. Batu isn’t entirely alone, though. There’s an orange-robed monk who checks in on him from time to time, and he’s somehow befriended a golden eagle. But strange things begin to happen when the guard changes in the next tower over.

Qara can’t bear to face the future her father planned, so she runs away, pretending to be her older brother. But her new commanding officer isn’t so easily fooled. For her own good, she’s bundled off to a mountaintop watchtower. Qara is safe, but the cold and the solitude become too much to bear … until she befriends a wild sheep, a cheery villager, and the man in the next tower over.

Squee Post. If you need a place to react, confer, or kick up a fuss, this is the spot. I’ll enjoy your enthusiasm, I might be willing to clarify small points, but I reserve the right to evade questions that will be answered later in the Saga & Songs. ::twinkle::

  1. Way to put a twist in there 4thy–I fully expected the story to be the two falling in love, and instead we get siblings upon siblings! Also, loved the end and that she worked so hard and they were able to fully be together!

  2. Finished up the other day. I loved this “way back machine “ story. The history building always draws me in and holds me. So many layers.
On another note..I am finishing up listening to the first novel. It’s so nice to pick out all the future storylines that I see coming from this. You must have a huge whiteboard where you have plotted out all the stories in advance and now as we near the last one, I get the feeling that it will all come back to Stately House and Tsumiko and Argent. ❤️❤️

  3. Oh oh oh! My infant son has FINALLY been gracious enough to allow me a small stretch of time to read this and it is a DELIGHT! I adore each of these characters in this little peek into a new place, even the tiny glimpses. Zaya is such a darling, so secure having grown up surrounded by love. Batu who had eagles move in and essentially went “alright, new neighbours”. Qara who wants to make choices for herself and do things with full knowledge. It is so easy to think “why WOULDN’T anyone want all of this and leapt at the chance?!” when presented with Amaranthine possibilities, so how refreshing to see someone who sees the wonder and wants to really CHOOSE their life after careful deliberation instead of being swept along.

And Revic! A place to belong, with a chronicle needed! And trees! We know a few someones who are in need of a Revic! Is he going to be Fumiko and Zuzu’s chronicler???
