Too Little
Kyrie crooned over the baby in that musical way dragons had, and when he showed her his hands, Losi lifted hers.
“And here you thought no one could be as wonderful as Ninook,” Jacques drawled, surrendering her.
Sitting beside Sonnet, Kyrie asked, “Is she too little to be afraid?”
“No, love. She’s too little to be anything but wise.”
Jacques tended to agree. “Trust at first sight.”
A leggy young wolf loped over, licking Ninook’s chin before flopping at Kyrie’s feet.
Losi made little hooting, howling noises.
“Lord. What’s set her off?”
The wolf shifted to confess, “It was me.”
