Just Another Day
The following morning saw a return to… well, Jacques would never go so far as to say that life at Stately House was normal. He breezed into Akira’s room, intent of rallying some much-needed support.
“Wakey, wakey!” Jacques swept aside the drapes, mostly for the drama of it. “Show a leg, me boyos. Or more leg. Lord, are you getting taller, Suuzu?”
The phoenix had the world’s mildest glare. Barely creditable.
Jacques proceeded to steal blankets.
“Mmmornin’, Uncle Jackie.” Akira showed no signs of leaving the protective circle of Suuzu’s arms. “Whassup?”
“Andor’s special friend is here. Unofficially, of course.”
