Twice more, Inuyasha returned to check on his brother, who seemed stalwart enough on the surface.

Shippo reported, “He’s okay, so long as he’s reading Kagome’s book.”

Sesshoumaru probably had the thing memorized.

“What’s all this, runt?” The kid had his crayons out.  

“Just pictures.”

In each, Sesshoumaru featured prominently.

“Oi. What about me?”

“I didn’t forget you.” Shippo’s toes wiggled as he passed along a whimsical drawing.

“What’m I doing?”

“Teaching me stuff?”

“Hunting lessons,” Sesshoumaru remarked offhandedly.

“Yeah? Okay. We can do that.”

“When?”

“Now’s good. After all, Kagome’s coming back tomorrow. And she might be hungry.”
