Kagome hadn’t expected Sango to take charge, though it did simplify matters. Going home was a necessity. There was no way she could abandon her family without a word. Just as there was no way she’d abandon the consequences of the wish she couldn’t unmake.
Sesshoumaru’s eyes widened. His stripes vanished for several moments. Reappearing, they darkened through every shade of green, straight to black. He just sat there—not protesting, not forbidding, not happy.
Shippo patted his cheeks. “Should we go along? I wanna. Betcha Inuyasha will, too.”
“No.” Head tipping to one side, Sesshoumaru whispered, “Do not leave.”
