Claimer: I do hereby claim all rights and responsibility for the characters in this series of vignettes because the Amaranthine Saga is mine. (Which means I should probably behave myself since anything I say or do could be taken as canon.) Indulge the lot of us, especially the one with courage to spare.

Carrying Off
Sentinel’s long, smooth strides carried them far. Sonnet’s dad seemed a responsible sort, if a bit… distracted. Normally, Amaranthine didn’t tote around their human acquaintances.
A stutter-step called Jacques’ attention upward.
Sentinel’s widened eyes held the beginnings of worry. “Why is my son in a dress?”
“I rather think it’s part of the whole mothering aesthetic.” Jacques had no trouble singling out the tall woman who’d stepped straight out of a historical drama. “Carries it off handily, too.”
Sentinel did that adorably-confused thing again.
Jacques patted his arm and murmured, “Steady on. There’s a brave lad. I’ll hold your hand.”

I’m starting to feel sorry for Sentinel. It’s a whole new world and he’s rather lost
