“Uncle Jackie!”
Jacques uncurled one hand from his coffee cup long enough to offer a limp wave. “Bonne année.”
“Happy New Year, to you!” Isla returned, all smiles. “You’re looking well.”
“I promised to make an effort.”
And it had taken one.
An amused Rampant Starmark had loaned him two daughters and bid him take whatever he needed from their stores.
Finding a length of painted silk including just right shade of green had taken hours. Plenty of time to coax Lyric and Lavish into telling tales about the best-loved big brother who’d recently returned for little Clarion’s whelping feast.
