Claimer: I do hereby claim all rights and responsibility for the characters in this series of vignettes because the Amaranthine Saga is mine. (Which means I should probably behave myself since anything I say or do could be taken as canon.) Indulge the lot of us, especially the one who’s rarely subtle.

Uninvited
With a graceful wave, the stranger said, “These are not the droids you are looking for.”
Jacques blinked. “Pardon?”
“Ignore me.”
But this Amaranthine was difficult to ignore. Youngish, slender, and pale, with long hair in hues that were louder than life—spring green, chartreuse, and the soft yellow of primroses.
Jacques sipped his coffee, then asked, “Are you meant to be here?”
“Nobody gets into Stately House without an invitation.”
“I did.” Jacques wondered if that meant something. Foxes were frustratingly subtle. “Who are you, then?”
Gemlike green eyes narrowed, and the stranger swore. “Who warded you against dragons?”
