Shuffling forward on his knees, Jacques went to Tsumiko, intending to warn her about Gilen’s apprehensions, forgetting that her grasp of English was as solid as his on Japanese. Even so, Tsumiko was an understanding sort of person. Soft and warm.
“Do you like chocolate? It seems the posh sort.”
And suddenly, everyone was quiet.
Mark looked wary. Lapis bit his lip. Deece fidgeted. Gingko gestured wildly, then simply rolled his eyes.
Tsumiko smiled and touched his hand, murmuring something, and Jacques looked to Argent for translation.
Argent’s expression was unreadable. “My bondmate kindly suggests that you release my tails.”
