Perturbed, Sesshoumaru closed himself off, avoiding all contact, ignoring every inquiry. Hiding. Two days passed without incident, but when he woke on the third, panic robbed him of breath, dread roiled in his gut.
His door opened with a snap. Steadying hands. Confused concern. Inuyasha asked, “What the hell?”
He grunted.
More softly, “Nightmare?”
“No.” A shudder wracked him, inside and out. With it came an awful clarity. “She is gone.”
“What? Kagome?” Inuyasha searched his face. “Her and Kohaku went for supplies.”
Sesshoumaru had shunned her presence, encouraged her distance. But absence felt like death.
“Oi. You okay?”
“No.”

THE PLOT THICKENS. I’m loving it, as usual. You somehow always add a bit extra to Sesshomaru than normal, yet it’s still entirely him. Your characterizations are the things of legend!

Ooh! Wild speculation: if the subjugation beads that connect Inuyasha to Kagome allow him to go through the well, the jewel that connects Sesshoumaru to Kagome may likewise bridge the centuries for him!

I think those ‘stripes’ of Sesshoumaru’s are going to be VERY busy changing into some very INTERESTING colors in the near future! I bet he even ‘invents’ a few new ones! I wonder what Kagome’s going to do! LOL!
