Claimer: I do hereby claim all rights and responsibility for the characters in this series of vignettes because the Amaranthine Saga is mine. (Which means I should probably behave myself since anything I say or do could be taken as canon.) Indulge the lot of us, especially for the one taking refuge in denial.

Business as Usual
Jacques went about his self-proscribed duties as if Stately House were dragon-free. Either he was wildly successful in avoiding their guest, or Lord Mossberne was making himself scarce. Therefore, dragons were far from mind when Jacques strolled into Michael’s office.
The usual pot of tea would have hit the floor if not for Argent’s intervention.
“Thank you, Smythe,” Argent murmured, hands supporting his shaky ones. “You may go.”
“Nonsense. He should stay,” countered Lapis—brown-skinned and blue-haired, with a gaze like sapphires. “Why foster unwarranted fears when you can teach your man to treasure the glorious gift of my friendship?”

Time to face up to your fears Jacques! Lapis sounds charming plus he is named after my favorite stone.
