LMM 23: Absinthe Eyes

Lord Mettlebright’s Man

Claimer: I do hereby claim all rights and responsibility for the characters in this series of vignettes because the Amaranthine Saga is mine. (Which means I should probably behave myself since anything I say or do could be taken as canon.)  Indulge the lot of us, especially the one who even pouts in French.

Chapter Twenty-Three: Absinthe Eyes

Jacques’ lips formed a moue. “Is Argent trying to muddy things by throwing other men at me? I won’t be distracted!”

Michael smiled. “Did you come to Stately House hoping for romance?”

“I love Argent,” he declared staunchly.

“So do I.”

“I loved him first,” snapped Jacques.

Michael plumped pillows. “Gingko actually has that advantage.”

Jealously clawed at a soul already raw. “You really love him?”

“Not in the same way as my wife or my children, but yes. We share a bond.”

In those few words, Jacques recognized his desperate need and blurted it out. “I want a bond.”

  2. Oh Jacques…now we are getting to the heart of his issues. Also, I love your Claimers/Disclaimers. Especially the “especially for“ part. They are your own special trademark and I always look for them in your fics.
