Long after the Sesshoume’s father left, Kagomaru lay sleepless. His wife’s final demand reeled through his mind. “If you wish to see your mate, come courting.”
“Sesshoume-sama?”
“Hnn.”
“Teach me about inuyoukai courtship?”
She lifted her head from his chest. “Why?”
“Erm… we sort of skipped that part.” He cautiously asked, “Would you like me to court you?”
“Why?”
“Because I…” Kagomaru’s heart raced. “I want… but only if you want… I mean, wouldn’t it help if I showed you…?”
In the cool gray light of dawn, Sesshoume’s eyebrow arched as she finished for him. “… proof of your ardor?”
