Orphan
Coop couldn’t believe he’d never realized. Daroo had been alone, and somewhere along the way, Coop had assumed he was some kind of orphan. He never talked about the past… or about his Clearsong packmates. He acted like Dad and them were his whole world.
“A sister, huh?” Coop managed. Should he be this uneasy? Family was a good thing, right?
The avians traded glances.
Shilah stiffly said, “Daroo’s a member of the Cooper pack now.”
Jiminy returned with iced drinks. His posture immediately shifted toward protectiveness, but his tone was casual. “Something happen?”
Tybalt answered. “He should meet Vel.”
