Coop’s whole life revolved around home—loving it, taking care of it, being there for his family. Traveling to Wardenclave was like… this whole new epoch. Embarking on a second adventure in the middle of the first? Wild.

“Is Fletching behind barriers, too?”

Torloo said, “No. A human city grew up around an enclave, and the Amaranthine who founded it live undisclosed among humans.”

“So… kind of like Daroo.”

Ninook passed Coop a skewer of sizzling meat. “Like your wolf, the Nightspangles have much to protect. Which is why there is a powerful ward at the heart of their pack.”
