Extraordinary

Coop felt guilty, lazing in bed while Mutt moved around the shelter, picking up his wet things. He shook out each item and draped it to dry. It reminded Coop of Dad, who was always tidying up, making food, doing laundry. Ordinary, everyday stuff that didn’t match Mutt.

Ninook’s sigil was definitely working. Coop was thinking clearly, but it was still hard to look away.

“I’m learning your face.”

Angling his head toward the coyote clansman, Mutt said, “There are more important things.”

Coop shrugged and shook his head.

Mutt’s tail swung higher.
