A white-haired Amaranthine was waiting outside. Her copper eyes flashed like new pennies. “I’m Resplendence. Head of security.”
“Sorry for making trouble.” Coop took an apologetic posture, but he couldn’t hope to hide how worried he was. “Salali said distress? Is my friend hurt?”
“They’re in trouble.”
Ninook cautioned, “Trespassing does not make the best of impressions.”
Salali asked, “Is it any surprise that one troublemaker has befriended another troublemaker?”
Coop was getting antsy. “Can we go?”
Torloo hurried inside, retrieving his harness. Placing it in Coop’s hands, he resolutely said, “I will carry you. I will keep you safe.”
