Two days later, battler games were canceled because of the weather. Coop stayed in the Elderbough encampment, working out knots for a second harness, because the one he’d been making for Torloo didn’t suit Mutt at all.
Torloo sat close enough to be kinda in the way. Some of it was probably posturing, but maybe he was having a sad day.
“Did you mean to use this sequence?”
“It means one-of-a-kind, right?”
“Mmm. The nuance is more… my one and only.”
“Oh. Whoops. Daroo’s knots are tattling on him.” Coop carefully undid the unintentional endearment. “He really loves my dad.”
