Coop had only just found out that Kith were people, but he was an outsider.

Realizing that these reaver kids were just as in the dark—maybe more in the dark—was weird. He felt bad for all these wolves being treated as convenient mounts. To have your feelings and opinions and even your personhood overlooked by people who were supposedly part of your balance as partners…? It had to be frustrating.

So when Mutt shifted and crouched, Coop flung himself aboard, threw back his head, and started where trust always started for the Amaranthine.

He sang out his name.
