Teams formed up, one led by the big-voiced Bryce, the other by fierce-eyed Dominique.
Battlers shouted.
Balls hurtled.
Barrels made a satisfying metallic thunggg whenever someone made a goal.
In a way, it was fun, but after two rounds of the game—which Mutt dominated—Coop took advantage of a break to approach Magda. He wasn’t even sure how to begin, so he just said, “I don’t get it.”
“What don’t you… get?”
“This is all wrong.”
Her eyes sparkled, like she knew what he was talking about. “Doing it wrong is how most people start.”
“Isn’t that kinda… insulting?”
