Coop wanted to make a good impression since partnering with Mutt would mean getting in on the battler games, but… how? Minding his manners, he took a receptive posture.

Mutt was easily as big as a horse, with cockamamie ears—one up, one down. He cocked his head to one side, Coop mirrored the action.

Radiance said, “No, not a reaver, but counted close by two packs. Three, if you’ll have him.”

“What’s your clan?” Coop asked the wolf, angling his head invitingly.

Mutt snuffled at his throat, sighed, and dabbed a dainty lick on his forehead.

Radiance supplied, “Starmark.”
