“Mutt has always worked with our campers,” said Radiance. “It’s no secret that he’s been waiting for the right one.”
“Like… he’s auditioning partners?”
“Not quite. Mutt’s special someone has been foretold.”
Coop asked, “Why doesn’t he go look for them?”
“Because this is where they’ll be. Or so he says. Stars know things.”
Just then, an unusual wolf loped out of the trees. Black fur was misbehaving big time, puffed out in every direction, with tips frosted in a lustrous creamy color that matched his eyes. It gave him a kind of halo.
Radiance cheerfully confided, “Mutt’s half star.”
