A huge blue jay swooped to a landing atop Salali’s head. “Help has arrived!”

Coop turned to see a tall, white-haired Amaranthine lady coming along the trail.

“Gent delivered your message. Hello, Coop! I’m Radiance. Let’s go see Mutt.”

Salali made a shooing motion and slipped into the trees, going after Pierre and Giang.

Coop followed Radiance. “Is this Kith really named Mutt?”

“It’s not an insult. Mutt is what he calls himself.”

“Does that mean he’s mixed breed?”

“He’s half wolf.”

“So… a wolfdog?”

“Nooo. His heritage is more complicated than that.”

“Okay, so what is he?”

“A miracle.”
