At breakfast, Coop piled his plate with pancakes and grabbed the first open seat so he could dig in.

“Who are you?” asked a tall kid with a blue tunic with a French accent.

“Hi! I’m new. The name’s Coop.” He poured maple syrup, then speared a sausage.

“I’m Giang,” said the Asian guy next to him, also in blue. “Where are you from?”

“America.”

“Pierre. Do you attend Ingress? Perhaps Bellwether?”

“Nope. I’m homeschooled.”

“How unusual. At an enclave? With a patron?”

“With my dad.”

Giang asked, “What’s your classification?”

“Starving!” Coop took a huge bite and chewed blissfully.
