Folk-Spelled (Immortal Holmes, No.1) is in the hands of readers. If you need a place to react, confer, or kick up a fuss, this is the spot. I’ll enjoy your enthusiasm, I might be willing to clarify small points, but I reserve the right to evade questions that will be answered in due course.

  1. I love it! The characters left me wanting to know them better, the world just begging for exploration.

The new terms were just the right side of understandable, very much things to accept rather than understand. I like that we had something of an audience insert character in Enzo. Most fantasy stories that change terms like this do so universally. That we had a character who came from outside where everyone uses what the audience knows and is also trying to understand was just amazing.

Varti was entertaining in how he interacted with everyone but I think my favorite character is Durst…or possibly Driss.

  2. I’m a longtime Forthy fan and Amaranthine Saga reader. I was skeptical about the Sherlock Holmes theme but the world building and characters drew me in immediately. I enjoyed it immensely! Good Job, Forthright!

  6. I love the Amaranthine Saga. Honestly, even if I didn’t already know that I enjoy your writing, I probably would have picked this up – the summary is right up my alley even if re-imagined stories aren’t my go-to.I loved Folk-Spelled, of course. I was a bit worried that Phil Kemp might turn out to be a traitor, and that would have broken my heart, but I trusted, and I was rewarded!! I think my favorite character might be Durst, or maybe Durst & Varti interacting. I adore how Thomas obviously managed Holmes a bit, and I actually like Holmes himself, too. I just adore Varti and Ramage and Purdle. All of the characters, really. I’m so looking forward to whenever we may hear from them again. I wanted to dislike Enzo, but I really couldn’t. He’s a bit naive, but he’s intelligent and empathetic and floundering a lot. Ramage doesn’t have arms! And he likes Varti a lot!!! This was a blast to read, so much joy.
