“I’m Magda.” She began to jog. “No stragglers! Teach me your names as we go.”

They formed a pack around her. The kids were from all over. Battlers or the children of battlers. And all of them younger than Coop.

“There are three ways to reach ridge-top—the growl, the howl, and the grovel. Today, we growl.” She swung left. “A steady rise. No obstacles. So… we… run it!”

Magda shot ahead.

They gave chase.

She started a chant.

They echoed.

And the trail’s name made total sense. Coop’s stomach growled the entire time.

Apparently, battlers prioritized running over breakfast.

  2. Poor Coop! 🤣🤣 Nothing worse than running on almost empty. No second breakfast here but the feast at the end will be worth it. Nothing good comes easy.
