They passed some kids playing something like Capture the Flag, but with archery, shields, dogs, and eagles. “Can I try that?”
“We can ask.” Merl veered toward the sidelines. “Mirrim? I have a new camper who is interested in your courses.”
A tall, blonde woman eyed Coop critically. “Which school?”
“I’m homeschooled.”
Merl added, “Not a reaver.”
“But raised in a pack,” countered Torloo.
“A fosterling?” Mirrim bent so close, Coop could count her freckles. “Do you have courage?”
“Yeah. Well, maybe. Is reckless close enough? I get that a lot.”
She smirked and straightened. “Put him on the roster.”
