Coop dropped into a crouch, something Daroo always did when it came to little kids. This guy couldn’t have been much older than Rose—five or six. His beribboned tunic and breeches were adorably authentic. He was a total mini-reaver.

The old guy caught up. “Give a fuller greeting, Mikoto.”

He nodded, then hesitated. “What language do I use?”

“You know more than one?” asked Coop, impressed.

“English! I have that one,” the boy declared, clearly relieved. And offering his palms, he spoke formally. “My name is Mikoto Reaver. It is our honor to welcome you on behalf of Wardenclave.”
