Torloo’s hand came to rest on Coop’s back as he listened.
“Dad says that Mom loves me. Buuut I always kinda wondered if she liked me. I… don’t think so.” Very quietly, he admitted, “I was glad to get away. Gladder when Daroo found us.”
“A wolf’s heart is the safest place to be.”
“So’s a human’s. If it’s the right human.”
They spied an old man and a little boy coming their way. The kid hurried forward, smiling shyly. “Welcome to Wardenclave.”
