The Elderboughs had been hunting, and given the swing of every tail, they were pleased with themselves. Smoke curled through tall pines into the cloudy sky beyond.

Uncle Moon straightened from his fireside crouch and beckoned Coop over. He offered a tidbit along with a low, “Good morning.”

Coop opened up, chewed appreciatively, and sighed happily. “More of that, please.”

“You shall feast to your heart’s content.”

That sounded great. “Where’s Torloo?”

Moon lifted his chin, and Coop followed his gaze to where his friend walked arm-in-arm with his dad. “Adoona-soh is taking a different path. They saw her off.”
