Halting, Torloo shifted in order to face Coop. “Bough?”

“Like the branch of a tree. Something strong that can support lots of things. Including me. Coop and Bough. They can be our names for each other. Unless you want to give me a special nickname, too?”

Torloo slowly inclined his head. “Lass had a name for you. She did not learn your true name, but she chose a word for you.”

Coop touched the fang he wore, tracing its point. “Yeah?”

“Lass called you Lad.” Torloo shyly asked, “When it is just you and me, may I call you Lad?”
