Strong and Brave

Torloo’s tail thumped against Coop’s leg. “What name will you bestow?”

“Mmm… something strong and brave.”

“I would like to be strong and brave. Someday.”

“Yeah, same.” Coop slid lower, trying to get comfortable.

Torloo shifted, which simplified things.

Coop had seen Dad with Daroo sleeping like this at least a million times. “Everybody should have a wolf,” he murmured, wrapping his arms around and grabbing fur.

Halfway to sleep, he came up with something perfect. But riding was tiring, and his wolf began a soothing sort of rumble.

S’fine. A name that would last forever could keep until morning.
