Wolves could run fast and run silent. They could also run all night… when they weren’t running with a boy who needed sleep.

Camping didn’t involve tents or fires. Torloo’s dad, who was bigger than a house in truest form, was all they needed. Coop and Torloo burrowed into warm fur and listened to wolfsong while the moon soared.

“Hey, I’ve been thinking. Is Coop really my pack name?”

“Is it not?”

“Not sure, since I picked it myself.” He poked Torloo. “What’s yours?”

“Petal Moon.”

“Huh. You like it?”

“It is my cub name.”

“Could I pick something else?”
