Coop felt awful. Some big brother he was. Rose was heartbroken, but he still wanted to go. More than anything.

Daroo came to their rescue. “Coop will have his summer courses with Torloo. Would you like to have courses, too?”

“I already know my moons and knots. That’s b-baby stuff.”

“What if you apprenticed to Vinca for the summer? Woodlore and healing with crystals. Very advanced.”

She blinked back tears. “R-really?”

Daroo raised a hand and promised, “Nothing but the truth.”

“Oh.” Rose gave Coop a quick, fierce hug and begged, “Don’t forget me.”

Then it was time to go.
