Torloo’s dad held each person’s gaze for a moment before continuing. “In keeping with wolvish tradition, and in the interest of further education, a boy of the Cooper pack has been added to the Elderbough pack.”

Coop touched the fang that hung above his leaping heart.

“Cole Pfieffer-Cooper, whose pack name is Coop, will be fostered, trained, and guided on whatever path he may choose.” And to him, Ninook said, “The time has come, Coop. Let your voice be heard in the circle. Will you run with us? With Torloo?”

“Yeah! Yes, please. I’m all packed.”

Rose burst into tears.
