At the farmer’s market, Coop looked over the stuff in every stall. Or made a show of it, at least. He was actually looking for clues.  

Dad asked, “Are we doing mini-doughnuts?”

“Can I have two bags?” Coop glanced in the direction of the pink trailer they always visited. And accidentally caught the eye of an old woman with a cigarette dangling from the corner of her mouth.

He knew her. Well, he recognized her. She was always here.

But when her gaze lingered a little too long on Coop’s collection of necklaces, he found himself saying, “I’ll catch up.”
