LMM 607: March

Claimer: I do hereby claim all rights and responsibility for the characters in this series of vignettes because the Amaranthine Saga is mine. (Which means I should probably behave myself since anything I say or do could be taken as canon.) Indulge the lot of us, especially the one who’s hit double digits.

March

Jacques meandered snow-edged paths, hunting for signs of spring. Hardly the sort of thing he’d done in Uppington, but if Jacques brought Argent a sprig of this or that, the fox would set aside his agenda, just to gaze. Then he’d bring it to show Tsumiko.

Today, Jacques crouched before a patch of snowdrops. White petals. Peridot freckles.

His contemplations were interrupted by Kyrie, who was far too light on his feet.

“Are you busy today?” asked the ten-year-old.

“I certainly find ways to stay busy. But I’d let you overturn my plans.”

“Fairlee says a calf is coming today.”
