Suuzu’s story has officially released! This tale offers a glimpse of what was happening at Stately House while Jacques & Akira (and the rest) were off on the titular uncharted island from Bk6. Once Suuzu and the Nine Nippets of Legend was all told, the final word count was around 38k, so it’s substantial as short stories go. And I’d consider it essential reading. Stuff happens! ::twinkle::

Stranded at Stately House, Suuzu Farroost is restless and fretful and lonesome for Akira. Waiting is a misery, and all he has to hold onto is the memory of a fleeting kiss, a circlet of nippet eggs, and one very stubborn, very outspoken valet. To keep him from wallowing, Suuzu’s friends find ways to distract him, and as one story leads to another, the phoenix learns about the special place nippets hold in avian lore, especially where courtship is concerned.

Enthralled. Absolutely enthralled!! I stayed up much too late and have to sleep a little for my second to last day of classes for my graduate degree(!!!), so I’ll be back with more squees, but for now, forthy, you’ve done it again and I don’t know how you continue to do it! My heart is full and full of hope and promise, and know that while I read the night away, there were birds outside my window singing most of the night away as well. It seemed apt!

Yes. The plan is to record Lord Mettlebright’s Man and Suuzu and the Nine Nippets of Legend together. So Suuzu’s story will be a kind of “bonus track” and the end of LMM.

This was completely lovely! I couldn’t put it down until I finished it last night. I’m now re-reading the end of bk6 to go with it, and am mildly sleep deprived. But i am curious, *why* are the brothers able to remember Hajime?

Great to find how Hajime is settling in at Stately House and that ‘Bon Bon ‘ is not as bad as Jacques made out!
