Unexpected

Apple for the Teacher. To help celebrate the return of Unexpected to “active” status, we’ve added an apple pattern to the shops. Up until now, I focused on giving fandom book covers to completed stories. Over the next few months, we’ll fit in ongoing serials, then work our way through odds-and-ends, right down to the last drabble. ::twinkle::

Summary: Kagome is the principal of an elementary school. Inuyasha is one of their two janitors. [Contemporary AU. Inuyasha x Kagome] STORY LINK.

For those of you who don’t have much interest in my fandom writing, the only real connection you’ll care about is that … Unexpected is the story I borrowed a few things from for Tamiko and the Two Janitors. (Mostly an apple orchard, a local college, some town names, & two janitors, one of which indeed has red hair.) Honestly, the plot of Unexpected bears NO resemblance to Tamiko’s story. It’s unique. And I’m ready to see it through. Many thanks to readers who’ve waited more than a decade for an update. To quote the tale, “Courage has its reward.” And so does patience.

  1. I am so, so excited to see this story picked up again! ^-^ I went into Tamiko and the Two Janitors thinking that it’d be the same and was really put off that it wasn’t. Expectations can influence a lot… Eventually I was able to appreciate Tamiko for itself but my heart was stolen by Unexpected first so I’m beyond happy to know that more happiness is coming soon!
Thank you for these stories! Your fanfic is amazing!

    • Hmm. I’d never simply publish one of my fandom stories with the names changed. Tamiko and the Two Janitors has its part to play in the Amaranthine Saga. And Unexpected has its own unique personality. I’ve always intended to get back and finish it. Something so sweet & sassy deserves a proper ending. ::twinkle::

  2. I’ve had a rough week (stolen phone, exams, moving.) Knowing this will be continued has brought me so much joy, it made all my woes disappear. Even though it’s spring now, I fully intend to start from the beginning- with a cup of apple cider! Also, I need that tote bag.

  3. !!!! My shriek of delight was so loud and shrill that my husband thought I’d won the lottery. This is BASICALLY that. I have been hoping for this longer than I have known him! And if I DID win a lottery, probably the… third thing I would do with my winnings would be to offer you a huge sum of money to obtain this exact outcome like I was a rich renaissance patron (1st buy a garden so that my turtle can have her own pond, 2nd fly my mother first class to Japan to see the cherry blossoms). I actually have a much-reread paper copy because when I came to China almost a decade ago the site was blocked and my computer was vpn-less, so on the first day of my first trip to South Korea I went to a library and spent a tidy portion of my vacation budget filling an Unexpected binder😂 Everything you write is a delight, but Unexpected does have a rather special spot in my heart. THIS IS A THRILL AND A DELIGHT UNPARALLELED BY ANYTHING ELSE OF LATE.

  4. I am so excited that you have given us an entirely different story. I would have expected that you would take us down a different path. I’m doing a reread because my old brain needs to be refreshed and I’m just enjoying the journey again with my favorite characters.
