Claimer: I do hereby claim all rights and responsibility for the characters in this series of vignettes because the Amaranthine Saga is mine. (Which means I should probably behave myself since anything I say or do could be taken as canon.) Indulge the lot of us, especially the one who isn’t human.

Change in Circumstances
Of Jacques’ earliest memories, the most vivid centered around Argent, a magical creature that his aunt and uncle had somehow tamed. Silvery pale and flawless, with the eyes of an animal and the manners of a prince, Argent was fae and fantastic and little Jackie’s first love.
“You expect to serve this household?” Argent’s brow arched.
“Faithfully!”
“Are you aware that service implies work?”
“Yes, my lord.”
“Stop that.”
“Stop what, my lord?”
A low growl reverberated between them, but Jacques adopted a tranquil expression.
“So be it.” A wintery smile. “I wonder how long you will last … Smythe.”

Oh…Argent is so going to push all his buttons! I’m wickedly gleeful over what’s coming. Like toblerone231, I love the disclaimer. It the first part I read, every time. Always a subtle hint.
