A question of swag…

Brainstorm with me. I’ve been pondering book swag for the upcoming release of Kimiko and the Accidental Proposal. What do you think would make good incentives, enclosures, and prizes?

  1. The book covers are so pretty that I think it would be fun to have tote bags or reusable shopping bags with the title/floral design! Also would be a great conversation starter to advertise the books. šŸ˜Š Iā€™d buy one!

  2. I like the autographed copies, plus you could give amazon gift certificates, pocky, relevant stuffed animals, jewelry (earrings, necklace, bracelets, etc.).

  3. I really like the fox tail bookmark idea! Also, if flowers are going to continue playing a fairly prominent role in either the books or in their marketing, you might look into some corresponding floral/color combos to pair with the merchandise. It would make a fairly recognizable ‘theme’ without actually having to theme things too specifically.

  4. Shirts, or maybe notebooks or drawing pads perhaps. I for one enjoy collective fandom shirts, so having one for your book series, I would enjoy very much. And are we thinking just for the first book, or the whole series? We are still at but the tip of the iceberg.

    • Oh, I always plan ahead. So I’m looking for ideas I can use all along the way. ::twinkle::

I have oodles of T-shirts for various books/shows/anime. Solid option. And one can never have too many notebooks.

  5. If you have some artist you can collab with, I think items like stickers, bookmarks or washi tape would be super cool, using the floral patterns or (my personal preference) the crests for the clans that crop up in the story. ā¤

  6. A small run of enamel pins, either of the flower of each book or perhaps the animal form of the hero. They’re not too hard to get manufactured, though there’s a bit of an up front investment
