Shippo’s tail puffed. Near their dwindling fire, Sango gasped Kagome’s name. Metal rang against metal—Miroku’s staff or Kohaku’s chain-scythe.
The Jewel pulsed again.
Power surged and swirled, and Kagome panicked, not wanting the kaleidoscope of purity to harm Sesshoumaru. She reached and pulled, thinking to shield him.
With the next pulse, she felt certain that the Shikon-no-Tama was sifting through her heart, pawing through her tangled emotions, burrowing for hidden desires.
Sesshoumaru hissed, “What did you do?”
“Me? I didn’t say anything!”
Neither of them had.
“Miko.” Sesshoumaru’s face was so close. “Does the wish have to be spoken?”

i legitimately gasped. i wonder what exactly the wish was and if it’s a combination of both of theirs or what…jeeeeeeez. i know when i think things they’re rarely as clear as when i speak them so i can only imagine how much wiggle room the jewel is getting ready to take. : p fantastic as always, forthy!!
