Chapter 31: Sad
Sesshoumaru couldn’t fathom why the miko was bringing her duty and consequences to him. There were others. She still had others.
Kagome asked, “Are you… sad?”
Presumption.
“Are there things you regret?”
Sesshoumaru’s stomach curled.
“And you want to go back and do it all differently?” Forlorn tears traced her cheeks. “Because the mistake was small, but everything after it is empty and awful?”
She needed to stop. Now.
“I’m afraid.” She stared at the Jewel. “That where you are is where this will lead me. I have to go, but I’m so afraid because … you look so sad.”

He’s been maimed and has to rely on Inuyasha . I think sad is an understatement. Make a wish already; make things better. It’s not like you to put yourself first. That’s not to say that you shouldn’t. It’s just not like you. I wish you good luck, but then what would the story be.

Wow! You’ve got a lot of heavy emotions going on in this story! I adore the way you use silences to express all the angst and sadness. I think one of the best features of your drabbles is how much you manage to convey between the words. I don’t know if youre familiar with Hemingway’s iceberg theory, but you really manage to put it into practice. Well done.

Wow! Three little letters can convey an awful lot. Sad, indeed. She is feeling the I want to help, I probably can but I don’t want to mess this up again.

Wow Forthy thanks for the broken heart.
(Of course, your skill with words is peerless, this story is asriveting as it alll the others, but I don’t like all these tears.)

You are so brilliant! I am a new fan who fell in love with your work after reading Unspoiled. This one is heart-wrenching, and I can’t wait to see what Kagome’s wish does!!
